how do you pronounce aatxe?
Hi guys, I have a quick question. How exactly do you pronounce aatxe? I thought it was A-TAX but someone said thats wrong. Also I used several text-to-speech programs and they sound all different. Thanks!

Aa-chee / Ah-chee.
If http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Talk:...#Pronunciation is to be believed. (Have no reason to doubt it, imo o_O) Though yeah, I say At-axe too. It's just more understandable that way IMO. |

Yeah, there were a couple threads on this a few years ago. I too used to think it was "A-tax" (which kinda sounds like "Attacks"). Of course, even though I now know the correct Basque pronunciation, I still think of it in my head as A-tax. Pretty much nobody I know on Vent pronounces it incorrectly anyway, so if I did say it correctly (aa-che), nobody would know what I was talking about anyway.

For me, coming from scandinavia, i say "aatks" without the -e at the end.
Whether or not it is the correct way may be another matter. |

Ok... from what I can gather from various attempts to spell a pronunciation.
Aatxe -> ??tʃeɪ (English IPA) I think. The most intuitive way I can think of writing that in something that could easily be read would be "atch??". I debate the "t", but meh. |

That's what the TTS site was for. Why write out what you can hear?

I typically say "aks-ee". I can't stand the attacksey pronunciation, cause the friggin' second "a" isn't after the "t" people . As I understand it, it's the "atch-ee" or "atch-ay" as stated.

A-TAX myself here
The others just sound wrong, not manly enough Archie (atchee, atchay with indian accent ) and Jughead? Achee (the feminine sneeze from achoo?) |
